Heatking, a division of TEV Ltd., have just announced that with effect from the 1st October their BWarm 8000 and 12000 Air Source Heat Pump units have been added to the Energy Technology List and as such are eligible for the government’s Enhanced Capital Allowance.
The Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme which is managed by the Carbon Trust on behalf of the Department Energy & Climate Change is seen by the Government as a key part of their programme to manage climate change. It provides businesses with enhanced tax relief for investments in equipment that meets published energy-saving criteria.
John Lightfoot, from Heatking, explained that they had received several requests from some of their larger clients to add their products to the ETL list so they could take full advantage of the Enhanced Capital Allowance.
John added “we are very pleased to be able to offer our clients the advantage of ECA when buying our product, together with it’s MCS accreditation, it is a further example of our products being amongst the most efficient available in Europe.”
Marstair, a division of TEV Ltd., have just announced that with effect from the 1st October their MRC+ range of 13 units from size 50 to 180 have been added to the Energy Technology List and as such are eligible for the Government’s Enhanced Capital Allowance.
The Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme will provide 100% tax relief for the MRC+ Refrigeration Condensing Unit product range, in the same tax year as the purchase is made. As well as the added tax incentive, investing in the MRC+ product range could reduce a company’s energy bills. A further benefit still would be the reduction in a company’s Climate Change Levy, thus providing significant long-term savings from the initial investment in the product.
Chris Chisman, Marstair’s Operations Manager explained that “customers would now be able to benefit from all the design work carried out by our engineers to make sure our products are some of the most efficient in the market”.
As a UK manufacturer, the Company has been nominated as a finalist for the Sustain' Magazine Sustainable UK Manufacturing Award. Tev’s engineering apprentice, David Moorhouse has been named Apprentice of the Year and Engineer of the Year by Kirkdale Industrial Training Services at an awards ceremony at Galpharm Stadium in West Yorkshire.
David, 21, has been celebrating with colleagues and is delighted to be awarded this on the final year of his HND Engineering course.
“I was so surprised! I’ve worked hard on the course but when I attended the ceremony I thought it was just to receive my certificate. Winning two awards and a free laptop made it a brilliant evening!” said David.
David joined TEV as an apprentice engineer in 2003 and works in the design and engineering department for TEV at their Brighouse site in West Yorkshire. Working on the development of the Quartz range of products, which were the recent choice for the air-conditioning system at the new St Pancras Station, London has given David great practical experience alongside his studies.
“It was a great opportunity for me to be able to join TEV just after leaving school. The team is great, the Company have been so supportive in my training and an apprenticeship has given me the best of both worlds, working and training all at the same time.” David added.

Quartz Solutions, launched in September 2007, has been shortlisted for the H&V News Awards - Air Conditioning Product of the Year Award 2008. The H&V News Awards which take place on May 1st at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London are now in their 14th year and are the highlight of the HVAC industry calendar.
A completely packaged, fully assembled and fully calibrated fan coil system that is quite simply ready to go, Quartz Solutions is not simply about selling a product, it is delivering a solution!
Quartz products, in almost every situation are a component of a larger system designed by a consultant, purchased individually by an M&E contractor, assembled on site and commissioned by an independent company. Quartz Solutions brings all these components together and offers the complete package. Valves are self balancing and set to the correct flow rate, the fan utilised is an ec/dc type with a self commissioning controller that is factory set for the correct airflow volume. Added to this the supply diffusers and return air grilles are selected to meet the defined noise criteria and following the system installation (plug & play) a trained Quartz Engineer will visit onsite and check every unit for correct installation.
The benefits are :
Reduced labour due to factory supply and fitting of components
Reduces/eliminates requirement for double regulating valves.
Reduces/eliminates requirement for site and air side commissioning.
A Quartz Solutions engineering check ensures correct installation every time
Quartz Solutions guarantee gives peace of mind and reduces risk of project over-run.

Richard Dossett becomes their Group Managing Director and TEV Ltd.’s Coporate Development Director, Tony Hammersley becomes TEV Ltd.’s Director and General Manager and John Lightfoot continues with his role of Sales & Marketing Director.
These moves follow significant investment by TEV Ltd. during 2007 in strengthening its customer facing management team. John added that in addition to new products, new services are also being offered such as Quartz Solutions which helps to eliminate many of the issues which occur during the commissioning stage of a chilled water project.
With the planned introduction of a range of Ground Source Heat Pumps and a new energy efficient system for the catering industry to be launched in 2008 the team at TEV can’t wait to roll out their ambitious plans for next year.
